reflection & awareness

self-awareness serves as a guiding light amid the tumult.

being cognizant of what you are doing, who you are, and what you truly like is paramount in leading an authentic and fulfilling life. this forms the bedrock of authenticity, enabling informed decision-making aligned with your values and long-term objectives. it serves as a catalyst for personal growth by fostering continuous learning and a deep understanding of your strengths and areas for improvement.

in relationships, self-awareness promotes empathy and genuine connections with others.

additionally, it contributes to stress management, adaptability, and resilience, empowering you to navigate challenges with a clear sense of purpose.

recognizing your likes and dislikes enhances well-being, directing you towards activities that bring joy and fulfillment.

being well aware of yourself improves problem-solving skills, goal alignment, and ultimately leads to a life characterized by authenticity, resilience, and profound fulfillment.

it allows you to shed societal expectations and external pressures, cultivating a path uniquely tailored to your aspirations.

exactly couple years back when i had a fallout with my best friend i took a deliberate step back from everything and started spending more time by myself. games, substances and any distractions were automatically removed from my life as i stopped hanging out a lot.

it became evident that i, and a lot of people i know around my age were were unconsciously following the path of least resistance, constantly distracting ourselves, not having a routine, neglecting our health, having a short-term vision, getting addicted to a cycle of quick dopamine hits and “going with the flow”

what i realised was that i didn’t live with intention and therefore i wasn’t making deliberate choices in life.

in order to start working on myself i had to understand - why i was doing the things i did?, and what is it that i truly want?

how i went about it was -

  • by asking myself a lot of meaningful questions : delving into the depths of my motivations
  • practice mindfulness : embracing the present moment to foster clarity
  • regular self reflection / journaling : documenting thoughts and insights for self-discovery
  • seek feedback from others : gaining external perspectives for a holistic view
  • observe my thoughts : developing an awareness of my own mental patterns
  • limit distractions : creating space for focused and intentional living
